Omsk authorities intend to strengthen cooperation with the CIS countries
Regional Ministry of Economy is forming the Plan of international and interregional activities, exhibition and congress events of the Omsk region for 2022. It will include proposals from regional national public associations.
Minister of Economy of the region Anna Negoduyko and heads of national public organizations of the region, business associations and businessmen discussed the prospects for cooperation with the CIS countries within the framework of the Public Council for International Foreign Economic Relations of the Omsk Region.
According to the Minister of Economy of the region, the pandemic affected the foreign trade turnover of the Omsk region.
In 2020, the region's foreign trade turnover decreased by almost 20% compared to 2019. The CIS countries account for more than 40% of foreign trade turnover, Kazakhstan still occupies the first place.
“However, the economic revival is already observed today. Following the results of four months of 2021, there was an increase in the volume of foreign trade turnover by almost 23%. In the context of the changing structure of the economy, the introduction of new formats of interaction between business communities, authorities, representatives of foreign states, it is especially important to consider promising areas of cooperation between the Omsk region and neighboring countries, and draw up a specific work plan in this area, "Anna Negoduyko noted.
The discussion of the directions of cooperation and the results already achieved lasted more than two hours. Within the framework of the meeting, the heads of regional national associations suggested organizing mutual visits and developing cooperation in the spheres of trade and education.
