More than 68 Omsk enterprises are implementing lean manufacturing tools to increase productivity

On average, in the Omsk Region, organizations with expert support from Regional and Federal competence centers for the national Labor Productivity project managed to reduce work-in-progress by 40% and increase output by 37%.

"Participation in the national project is really an event for enterprises, an opportunity to look at production and office processes in a different way. In the Omsk region, companies are willing to seek expert support within the framework of a national project, which allows enterprises to find reserves for growth and development, and for the economy to increase production and budget revenues," said Economy Minister Anna Negoduiko.

The National Labor Productivity Project was initiated by President Vladimir Putin to increase the productivity of medium-sized and large enterprises in the basic sectors of the economy by 5 percent or more per year through the introduction of lean manufacturing tools and culture. In the Omsk Region, the national project has been implemented since 2020 by the regional Ministry of Economy jointly with experts from the Federal and Regional Competence Centers.

The national project involves enterprises of basic non-resource sectors of the economy: manufacturing, agriculture, construction, trade, transportation and storage. In the Omsk region, companies from the food industry, metalworking, road repair and construction, and agriculture are most often trained in the principles of lean manufacturing.

Every year, more and more enterprises in the region realize the advantages of participating in the national project and join it. Experts from the Regional Competence Center offer companies free assistance in increasing profitability and optimizing production: together with a working group, they analyze production processes, identify weaknesses, and develop improvement plans. As a result, Omsk businesses can produce more products without attracting additional investments.

Today, almost 1.5 thousand employees of Omsk companies have been trained in lean manufacturing tools by certified trainers from the Regional Competence Center. 47 internal lean manufacturing instructors have been trained, who can train other employees at their enterprises.

In addition to free targeted support for the project participants, there is a program of preferential loans from the Industrial Development Fund, training for managers under the Productivity Leaders program at the All-Russian Academy of Foreign Trade and the RANEPA, and training sessions at the Factory of Production Processes and the Factory of Office Processes.

"By the end of the year, the RCC managed to achieve all the targets that our region faces as part of the national Labor Productivity project, and we even exceeded some of them. In the coming year, the RCC team sets new ambitious goals and objectives that will help enterprises participating in the national project to increase their productivity with our support. Among the plans for 2024 are to add 8 more companies to the register of enterprises participating in the national project, increase the number of employees trained at the RCC Factories and trainings, as well as train new trainers on lean manufacturing tools," said Maxim Shulgat, head of the Regional Competence Center.
