Road slabs in Omsk will be produced a third faster thanks to a federal project

ZHBI 7 LLC, one of the oldest construction and industrial enterprises in the Omsk region, summed up the results of its participation in the federal project "Labor Productivity" of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy". Following the results of joint work with experts from the Regional Competence Center of the Omsk Region, the company's staff was awarded a letter of thanks from Governor Vitaly Khotsenko.

The production of a road slab begins with a mold. A reinforcement frame is laid in it, concrete is poured.  Each slab is first allowed to stand for about two hours, and then it is sent to the steaming chamber – there the concrete gains strength. The camera holds exactly 7 items. Then the mold is unpacked and re-prepared. Previously, the preparation started only in the morning, and the first plate waited until the other six were ready. Now two molds with fittings already installed are ready even before the start of the shift. At first glance, it's a simple rearrangement of terms. But the amount has changed: the batch is assembled faster, and the workshop produces more products during the same working hours.

"The key task was to help the company find hidden reserves, improve the economy and build flows. The Working Group coped with this task. We got a good result at the pilot site. The main thing now is not to stop: there are still many areas where you can develop a culture of lean manufacturing," said Kirill Samodinsky, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Omsk Region.

As a result of the project, several results were achieved at once. The production time of a batch of seven road slabs was reduced by 33%, from six hours to four. The transfer of the tilting area (the place where the slab is turned over after molding) made it possible to reduce idle movements of cranes and reduce power consumption.

"We have not added new facilities or increased our staff. Together with the company's staff, we simply rebuilt the logic of work on the site and got +33% to the production speed," said Boris Bondarev, project manager of the Autonomous Non–Profit Organization RCC Omsk Region.

Such simple solutions form the philosophy of lean manufacturing, which is the basis of the federal Labor Productivity project.

"The program has shown that fewer people can make more products. We need to consolidate the results and move on," said Igor Hartman, CEO of ZHBI 7 LLC.

Road slabs are used in the construction and repair of highways, the arrangement of access roads and industrial sites. The company plans to replicate the experience gained to other production sites on its own. The team still has access to consultations from RCC experts, training at the "Process Factories" in the Congress Hall, and all methods and trainings are available on the productivity portal.RF.
