Gazprom Neft has started production of new generation catalysts at the Omsk Refinery

Gazprom Neft has started production of new Avangard series catalytic cracking catalysts at the Omsk Refinery.

Gazprom Neft is developing innovative technologies for the production of catalysts in cooperation with leading Russian research centers in the field of catalysis. In particular, the new Avangard series catalyst was developed by Russian scientists from the Institute of Hydrocarbon Processing Problems of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences together with specialists from the Omsk Oil Refinery.

Due to the improved characteristics, the Avangard catalyst makes it possible to increase the production of high-octane gasoline components of the Euro-5 standard. About 10 tons of new generation catalysts will be produced daily at the ONPZ.

To ensure the production of new Avangard series catalysts, an additional filtration and stabilization unit for zeolites, the main components of the catcracking catalyst, was installed at the Omsk Refinery. The improved structure of the zeolites produced makes it possible to model the composition of the catalyst, taking into account the parameters of the oil raw materials and the quality of the products, modifying it to meet the needs of customers. Ultrasonic and electromagnetic flowmeters ensure high mixing accuracy of catalyst components with specified characteristics.

At the moment, the Avangard series catalysts are loaded into ONPZ catalytic cracking units. After the completion of industrial tests, the use of new generation catalysts is also planned at the Gazprom Neft Moscow Refinery. According to the calculations of the company's specialists, the expected economic effect from the use of new generation catalysts at the catalytic cracking plants of the two plants will amount to about 1.3 billion rubles per year.

Gazprom Neft actively finances R&D programs: we cooperate with domestic science and use the results of scientific research to develop new types of products and technologies. One of the results of this large—scale and systematic work is the start of production at the Omsk Refinery of the innovative Avangard catalyst, which increases the efficiency of one of the key secondary refining processes, catalytic cracking," said Oleg Belyavsky, CEO of Gazpromneft-ONPZ.
