Governor Viktor Nazarov held talks in Sochi with the leadership of the National Management Holding Baiterek

Within the framework of the Russian Investment Forum, Governor Viktor Nazarov and Chairman of the Management Board of the Baiterek Group of Companies (Republic of Kazakhstan) Yerbolat Dosayev discussed the prospects of investment cooperation, the development of mutual export potential of Kazakhstani and Omsk enterprises, and issues of cross-border trade.

The parties agreed to meet again to elaborate on proposals for expanding cooperation. This may happen in two weeks as part of the next trade and economic mission of the Omsk region headed by Governor Viktor Nazarov to the Pavlodar region (RK), which is scheduled to take place on March 15-17, 2017. Chairman of the Board of the National Management Holding Baiterek Yerbolat Dosayev considers it necessary to jointly transfer bilateral cooperation from the micro level to the macro level. The Kazakhstan Group of Companies is interested in implementing mutually beneficial investment projects involving a large Russian border region. Omsk region will prepare a package of proposals for joint projects with high potential and attractiveness for Kazakhstani investors.

Baiterek National Managing Holding is one of the largest investment companies in Kazakhstan. The main share of participation in it belongs to the state. The main task of Baiterek Holding is to manage the blocks of shares of national development institutions, national companies and other legal entities owned by it and transferred to trust management. The holding's structure includes 11 subsidiaries.

Kazakhstan is a strategic partner for the Omsk region. It accounts for more than 30% of the region's foreign trade turnover. In 2016, the foreign trade turnover of the Omsk region with Kazakhstan amounted to $ 239.3 million, of which 62.2% ($148.8 million) accounted for exports of the Omsk region, 37.8% ($90.5 million) accounted for imports to the Omsk region.

In the export structure of the Omsk region, the leading positions are occupied by machine-building products (seeders, pumps, air conditioning units, freezing equipment, electric machines), petrochemical products (rubber, rubber and plastics, as well as products made from them), consumer food products (finished products from grain, cereals, flour, starch and milk, flour confectionery, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, vinegar). The structure of imports is dominated by products of the petrochemical industry, mechanical engineering products, and consumer food products.

Promising areas for the development of cross-border trade between the Omsk region and Kazakhstan include the expansion of supplies of machine-building products, foodstuffs and agricultural raw materials from the Omsk region, cooperation in seed production, joint research on seed testing and the creation of new varieties of cereals, oilseeds, the creation of joint ventures and industrial cooperation in the agro-industrial complex and manufacturing industries.

Of the 572 enterprises with the participation of foreign capital in the Omsk region, 217 enterprises were established jointly with Kazakhstani partners. Agriculture and industry are the most important areas of bilateral cooperation. Projects to create new varieties of cereals, oilseeds and potatoes are being successfully implemented. Highly adaptive varieties of Omsk-bred grain crops are grown in Kazakhstan on an area of more than 5 million hectares. Omsk region has developed particularly close cooperation with Pavlodar and North Kazakhstan regions.
