Governor Vitaly Khotsenko discussed with the delegation of the Navoi region of the Republic of Uzbekistan the development of bilateral interregional cooperation

Representatives of the Republic of Uzbekistan arrived in the region on a return visit. Earlier, a delegation from the Omsk region visited the Navoi region. Today, during the negotiations, the parties outlined further steps to develop cooperation and identified priority areas and projects.

"For the Omsk region, Uzbekistan is one of the main partners among the countries of Central Asia. According to the results of last year, it ranks sixth in the region's foreign trade turnover. Omsk organizations are active participants in business missions and industry exhibitions. Today we see many prospects for cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation. Omsk enterprises of mechanical engineering, chemical products, instrumentation, and the agro-industrial sector are open to implementing joint projects," said Vitaly Khotsenko.

Cooperation has been established between food industry enterprises. Omsk residents supply confectionery, condensed milk, flour and pasta to Uzbekistan. The agro-industrial sector is also of mutual interest. Agricultural enterprises are ready to establish long-term contacts on the supply of wheat, barley and oilseeds to Uzbekistan, cooperation in the field of seed production and breeding of cereals, legumes and oilseeds, to provide farmers with tillage machines and aggregates, breeding equipment, potato cultivation equipment.

Vitaly Khotsenko noted that the Omsk region is open to cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. About 20 cooperation agreements have been signed between Omsk and Uzbek universities.

Today, the parties signed a bilateral agreement between the Government of the Omsk region (Russian Federation) and the Khokimiyat of the Navoi region (Republic of Uzbekistan) on the implementation of international and foreign economic relations in trade, economic, scientific, technical, social, cultural, humanitarian and other fields.

"I am confident that the agreement between the Government of the Omsk region and the Khokimiyat of the Navoi region will become a starting point for the development of mutually beneficial bilateral relations. In order to implement the points of the Agreement, I propose to organize an interregional working group. In preparing for this meeting, we came to the conclusion that the economies of our two regions are very similar and to some extent complement each other. In particular, industries such as mechanical engineering, metallurgy, light industry and food industry are the basic sectors of the economy of our regions. This fact opens up a wide opportunity for entrepreneurs in our regions to cooperate. I am also confident that the Agreement will serve to strengthen cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian fields and exchange the best scientific and practical experience between our regions. I would like to emphasize that there are ample opportunities to strengthen our trade and economic cooperation," said Khokim Normat Tursunov.

Governor Vitaly Khotsenko also expressed confidence that the signing of the Agreement would serve as a start for the further development of bilateral partnership in all areas. Today, the delegation of the Navoi region of the Republic of Uzbekistan will visit a number of enterprises, factories and scientific centers of the region as part of a working trip to the Omsk region.
