LLC Yastro of the Poltava district of the Omsk region is one of the leaders of the Russian market of processed and hard cheeses and is one of the three largest enterprises in the industry in Russia in terms of production. As part of the press tour for representatives of regional newspapers and city media, representatives of the Yastro company, together with the administration of the Poltava region, organized an excursion to the processed cheese factory and dairy farm in the village of Olgino.
The company has been operating in the Russian market for 77 years. The Omsk Processed Cheese Factory was founded in 1939 and was first known as the Omsk Butter Factory. The production of processed cheeses at the dairy began with a small workshop, which, in the absence of special equipment, was adapted for cheese melting. The economy was developing rapidly, and the company was improving technically, soon becoming an economically-educational and socially significant enterprise for the Omsk region.
In 2003, the company began to reorganize, a number of existing equipment was reconstructed, new processed cheese production lines were introduced, and cheese packaging machines were installed in modern formats. The plant's products went far beyond the Omsk region, which led to the need to create a geographically universal brand of the company. That's how the story of "Yastro" began in 2012. The company's products in the form of processed and hard cheeses, as well as butter, can be purchased in large retail chains – Magnit, Pyaterochka, AUCHAN under the trademarks: Rokler, Zhinkina Krinka, Omichka, Zhavoronki. Today, Yastro LLC produces all the most popular product formats, from sausage cheese to cheese in segments and slices. Yastro's logistics fully complies with modern supply management standards. The company's product sales system is spread throughout Russia, from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok. The main volume of products is sold in the Central part of Russia. The company employs 280 people.
At the end of 2014, the company acquired a dairy processing plant, and in 2015, a dairy farm in the village of Olgino. Today, the company includes several production sites: feed production, a livestock complex, a milk processing plant and a processed cheese production plant. In 3 years, the company "Yastro" has invested more than 300 million rubles in a new business. During this time, new equipment was purchased and a partial reconstruction of the processing site was carried out, cowsheds were reconstructed, new cattle were purchased, and the acreage for feed was increased. The company is financed from its own funds, loans from commercial banks and a preferential loan with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Omsk region.
In 2017, work was actively carried out at the Poltava site to modernize production lines, replace technological equipment with more modern ones, and repair production sites. Thus, the brine preparation and processing system was put into operation in the hard cheese shop, the cheese pressing system was automated, and a new cheese maturation chamber was put into operation. Additional containers for storing cream were purchased and installed at the oil production site, a cheese sink was put into operation, additional oil preparation and an ARM (small packaging) apparatus were purchased. The company produces about 20 tons of cheese and 180 tons of whey every day. The volume of milk processing increased from 150 tons to 200 tons per day.
In addition to milk from its own farm, the Poltava site of Yastro LLC accepts and processes more than 5,000 tons of milk per month. In general, for 11 months of 2017, the average monthly milk intake increased by 2 times compared to 2016.
According to Mikhail Dorokhov, director of the strategic business unit "Hard Cheese" of LLC "Yastro", in the future it is planned to produce up to 50% of its own milk for processing due to the development of the livestock industry.
At the end of June 2017, the Yastro company acquired more than 650 heads of cattle and 364 heads of young animals, which increased the total number of herds to 1,580 heads. As part of the reconstruction, 8 cattle storage facilities were renovated, and a feed mill was put into operation.
In addition, this year the Yastro-Agro division has mastered the technology of flattening corn grain, which is a high-quality, highly nutritious feed for cows. A new technology for harvesting alfalfa haylage using KUHN mowers has also been mastered, which also improves feed quality. Modern technologies are being implemented on the farm – herd management (DairyComp) and feeding management (TMR Tracker). The goal of introducing new technologies is to provide cows with balanced feed at the lowest cost to achieve high yields.
It should be noted that the Yastro company is a major taxpayer in the Poltava region, transferring 1.5 million rubles of taxes to the budget every month.
The company's immediate plans include further modernization of production, installation and launch of whey nanofiltration equipment, increased milk intake and increased production of dairy products.
