The participants of the regional industrial tourism development team of the Omsk region saw with their own eyes what food packaging, medical products, tableware and children's toys are made of today. As part of the training in the All-Russian educational program "Open Industry", an expert visit to the largest Omsk enterprise "POLIOM" took place.
The tour of the POLIOM plant can be considered a reference one — this is the second visit to the enterprise by members of the regional team during training at the Accelerator. Here, on the territory of the enterprise, tourists get acquainted with production processes and technologies, working conditions, and also debunk myths that the plant is dirty and not technologically advanced.
The company has a strict access control, an industrial tourist will not get anywhere without work clothes, personal protective equipment, a radio guide, a self-rescuer and an introductory safety briefing.
As part of the tour, representatives of government authorities and industrial enterprises of the Omsk region visited significant locations of the plant: a laboratory, a polymerization workshop, and a finished product warehouse. At each point of the route, enthusiastic employees of the company joined the tour process, telling about the work processes and the great importance of small polypropylene granules in the world. At the end of the tour, tourists were greeted by a group photo and an unusual souvenir — a branded test tube with polypropylene.
It should be noted that the company has been a member of the regional team for the development of industrial tourism in the Omsk region since 2024. The route of the plant, as the best practice for organizing industrial excursions, was included in a special online guide designed to help people from all over the country see how far the domestic industry has come, how modern and advanced production has become. At the end of May this year, at the final event of the Open Industry educational program, Ekaterina Zadvornova, Chief Corporate Communications expert at POLIOM, will defend the Sound Factory project aimed at promoting industrial tourism.
"Industrial tourism is an important tool in increasing the investment attractiveness of the region and developing its economy. It promotes local brands, creates a positive image and openness of companies, helps expand business ties, strengthens communications between enterprises in the region, improves corporate culture, helps attract future personnel and, of course, increases confidence in the products of enterprises that have opened their doors to all comers," said Deputy Chairman of the regional Government, head of the regional industrial tourism development team of the Omsk region Andrey Shpilenko.
In conclusion, the representatives of the plant received feedback from the participants of the tour. The guests highly appreciated the route, and also discussed the issues of building industrial routes, observing safety regulations and conducting an environmental policy.
