The possibility of setting up a deep grain processing plant in the Omsk region was discussed at the federal level.

On March 14, 2018, the International Conference "Deep Grain Processing: Forming a Value Chain" was held in Moscow, organized by the Russian Grain Union and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

Igor Antropenko, Deputy Chairman of the Council for Investment and Competition Development under the Governor of the Omsk Region, met with Evgeny Akhpashev, Director of the Food and Processing Industry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, during the Conference to discuss the prospects for the development of deep grain processing in the Omsk region.

"The Omsk region traditionally occupies one of the leading positions in terms of grain production, and agricultural production is rightfully considered a driver of the regional economy. However, there are serious problems with the transportation of manufactured products due to the geographical location and development of the transport and logistics infrastructure," comments Igor Antropenko, "The remoteness of ports, difficulties with rolling stock during transportation by rail - these factors suggest that it will be much more profitable for us to carry out deep grain processing within the borders of the Omsk region."

However, according to the deputy chairman of the Investment Council, it is necessary to solve this problem through joint efforts. Both the initiative from the Omsk Region Government and the support from the federal government are important here. The creation of a modern complex for deep grain processing requires significant financial costs, but in the future it will allow local agricultural producers to establish sales markets.
