500 farmers will receive high federal and government awards at the main regional agricultural festival.

For the first time this year, employees of the food and processing industry will be honored.

The next agricultural year has come to an end, and the high achievements of farmers of the Omsk region following the results of regional labor competitions are celebrated on the main professional holiday - the Day of the Agricultural and Processing Industry Worker.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Omsk Region told reporters about the main events within the framework of the Agricultural Worker's Day at a press conference.Maxim Chekusov.

"For the first time this year, awards will be given to Omsk food producers and processors, who are an integral part of our agricultural sector and who produce the final product. Specialists from scientific centers and the field of education will also be awarded," the Minister said.

The main celebrations will take place on November 24 in the Regional Congress Hall and Concert Hall, where, according to tradition, the leaders of the agricultural industry will be awarded. This year, about 500 farmers will receive federal and government awards. The leaders of the harvesting campaign - successful farms and processors of agricultural products – will receive diplomas, certificates of honor and gifts, and the most productive milk distributors will receive milking machines. Acting Governor of the Omsk regionAlexander Burkov will present the keys to 15 Lada-Grant cars to the best employees of the livestock industry.

On November 23, a business program will be held in the Regional Congress Hall, where a number of meetings will be held for agricultural industry specialists. The main event will be a meeting on material and technical support for enterprises of the Omsk region agro-industrial complex in 2017, tasks and development prospects in 2018. It will be attended by more than 500 people from among the heads and chief engineers of the agribusiness management bodies of municipal districts, scientists from scientific and educational institutions, heads of dealerships, supply bases, and agricultural machinery enterprises of the Omsk region. A meeting within the framework of the Year of Animal Husbandry will be held on December 6 on the territory of Omsk Agrarian University.

On November 24 and 25, a traditional agricultural products fair will be held on the square in front of the Congress Hall, applications for participation in which have already been submitted by 24 municipal districts of the region. 50 tents will be set up, where street food trade will be organized by more than 40 Omsk producers. Enterprises in the northern regions of the region will present a wide range of fresh fish. The Siberian Delicatessen and Omsk Bacon companies will arrange a tasting of their products.

Inside the Congress Hall, 35 enterprises will introduce farmers to their achievements: they will demonstrate technologies for growing, collecting and storing agricultural products, plant protection products, projects for livestock and poultry complexes, veterinary and zootechnical equipment, and tools. An exhibition of agricultural machinery and equipment will be organized in front of the Congress Hall.

According toMaxima Chekusova, industry workers have coped with the tasks of the agricultural year. Planned grain volumes have been achieved, the acreage of high-margin legumes and lentils has increased, a 10 percent increase in egg production has been achieved (85 million more than last year), milk production and the number of cattle in organizations and peasant farms have been increased. With the participation of state support, 30 new farms and 12 family farms have been created over the year, which will give useful returns in the next two years. Already, the Omsk region ranks 12th-13th in the ranking of the best regions of the country in dairy farming, fully provides itself with milk and supplies it to neighboring regions.

"The industry has set a course for economic efficiency, and now the main thing is not the volume, but the profit that farmers should receive for their hard work, attentive attitude to market conditions and building reliable relationships with processing consumers," the Minister believes.
