By order of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Omsk Refinery's new environmental project was included in the federal action plan for the Year of Ecology in Russia. The project is part of the perimeter of Gazprom Neft's oil refining assets modernization program, one of the key priorities of which is to consistently reduce the environmental burden of production.
Gazprom Neft's investments in the construction of new wastewater treatment plants will amount to about 17 billion rubles.
The new treatment facilities provide a multi-stage water purification system, including mechanical, physico-chemical, biological purification, as well as carbon filtration and ultraviolet disinfection. The technological solutions of the multi-stage purification system included in the project will make it possible to reduce the total area of the Omsk Refinery's treatment facilities by 17 times while increasing the capacity of the facilities by 20%. Through the use of innovative technologies, the load on urban wastewater treatment plants will be reduced by returning up to 70% of the water to the technological cycle of the enterprise.
The project was developed by the Russian design institute Omskneftekhimproekt. It is planned that the new treatment facilities will be put into operation in 2019.
