Natalia Ukrainskaya, Deputy Chairman and Chief of Staff of the Siberian Agreement Interregional Association, appealed to the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Omsk Region with a proposal to cooperate within the framework of a pilot project for the disposal of ash and slag waste from Omsk thermal power plants.
"The Omsk region has a unique opportunity to develop technologies that reduce the negative impact on the environment and contribute to the elimination of accumulated environmental damage in recent years. This experience is in demand for replication to other regions of the Russian Federation in the Siberian Federal District," the letter from the AMIS leadership says.
An industrial cluster for the processing of ash and slag materials has been established and operates in the region. The association includes representatives of TGC-11, industrial and scientific research centers of Omsk, including enterprises of the Osnova Holding group, which have many years of successful experience in processing ash and slag materials for the construction industry.
According to experts, the cluster's work will significantly expand the volume of ash processing and gradually eliminate ash dumps. Large-scale ash use is possible in road construction, vertical planning works, subway construction, quarry and landfill reclamation, railway construction, building materials production, etc.
Currently, the volume of ash and slag accumulated in the dumps of the Omsk region reaches 74 million tons. The dump area is 980 hectares. All these wastes can be effectively used in the recycling process, which will reduce the area of ash dumps and improve the ecological condition of the metropolis.
