A delegation from the Sokh district of the Ferghana region of the Republic of Uzbekistan is in the Omsk region from March 23 to March 25. The visit was a continuation of the systematic work of Governor Vitaly Khotsenko to expand cooperation with partners from Central Asia.
Earlier, the head of the region met with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdullah Aripov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Botirjon Asadov, and in December 2025, a delegation from the Omsk region visited Uzbekistan.
Currently, a delegation from the Sokh district is working in the region, headed by Timur Surenin, adviser to the khokim of the Ferghana region. The program began with a visit to the multimedia exhibition "Days of Uzbek Culture in Omsk".
At the official meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of joint projects.
Andrey Shpilenko, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Omsk Region:
"Russia and Uzbekistan are bound by friendship, mutual respect and strong partnership. As Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin notes, Uzbekistan is not just a strategic partner, but a reliable ally of Russia. Our countries are building relations based on the principles of equality and consideration of mutual interests, and this vector of cooperation is rapidly gaining momentum."
Timur Surenin:
"Our visit is a practical implementation of the agreements reached in Tashkent. We came to get acquainted with the conditions on the spot. I am sure that such cooperation will yield mutually beneficial results."
The guests were introduced to the potential of the Omsk region.
Nikolay Drofa, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Processing Industry of the Omsk Region:
"The distance from the southern to the northern point of our region is about 600 kilometers. We have several climatic zones where crops are successfully cultivated and livestock products are produced. In recent years, we have seen an increase in all major areas. In terms of grain, we are reaching a volume of about 4 million tons. Of these, we consume about 1.5 million tons within the region, and we sell the rest. The geography of Omsk exports is constantly expanding. In 2025, we supplied products to 48 countries. In particular, shipments of products have begun in three new directions – Togo, Jordan and Colombia."
The delegations were also told how to start a business in the Omsk region. The first step is to register a legal entity (LLC, JSC or sole proprietor). This is necessary to receive support measures. There are more than 40 types of subsidies and grants available in our region.
The Omsk Region Development and Investment Agency helps to select a site for the project, draw up a business plan and conduct its examination, and then accompanies the project in a "one-stop shop" mode.
Representatives of small and medium-sized businesses can contact the My Business Center. It has a specialized division, the Competence Center in the field of agricultural cooperation and support for farmers, which accompanies projects in the agro—industrial complex.
The guests from Uzbekistan were presented with specific investment opportunities of municipalities.
For example, in the Odessa region they specialize in agriculture. Last year, 16 investment projects worth about 200 million rubles were implemented here. Ready-made business plans have been developed for investors. Among the directions are the production of cereals, flour production, sunflower and linseed oil production, as well as the planting of perennial plants.
The representatives of the delegation visited a potato growing plant and examined the land for growing crops.
Following the visit, the parties will outline concrete steps for further cooperation.
Cooperation between the Omsk region and Uzbekistan is developing. By the end of 2025, the republic ranked fifth among the partner countries of the region. The trade turnover increased by almost 50%, and the export of Omsk products more than doubled.
A delegation of the Omsk Region headed by Governor Vitaly Khotsenko is scheduled to visit the Republic of Uzbekistan in April to participate in the INNOPROM exhibition. Central Asia".
