Omsk region is recognized as one of the leaders in the development of industrial tourism in Russia by the end of 2025. The region entered the TOP 22 and received the status of "region leader", and was also awarded in the nomination "For demonstrating the achievements of the region's industry" among 89 subjects of the Russian Federation. The results were summed up as part of the business program of the Russian-Chinese Industrial Tourism Forum "Open Industry" in Blagoveshchensk.
As Governor Vitaly Khotsenko noted, the development of industrial tourism is one of the priorities for the region. Given Omsk's rich industrial history and the status of one of the country's key industrial centers, the region really has something to show the guests and participants of industrial excursions.
"Industrial tourism allows us to increase the recognition of our region by increasing confidence in our products, affects the work culture, and is also a very important factor in career guidance — when young people fall in love with their business and stay in the region, developing it," said Andrey Shpilenko, Deputy Chairman of the Omsk Region Government.
Delegations from 40 regions and territories of Russia gathered at the border of Russia and China. More than 200 experts in the field of industrial tourism from Russia, Belarus and China gathered at the Socio-Cultural Center. Among the participants are representatives of federal and regional authorities, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, business, universities and the tourism industry. The forum program includes business sessions, guided tours of industrial facilities in Blagoveshchensk, and a presentation of best regional practices.
The central event of the program was the award ceremony for the best projects of the Open Industry program, which celebrated its fifth anniversary this year.
The Omsk Region was represented at the Forum by Svetlana Bazhenova, Director General of the Omsk Region Agency for Development and Investment, and Evgenia Kulagina, Head of the Department of Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Business at OmSTU, Head of the Competence Center for Industrial Tourism in the Omsk Region.
It should be noted that the status of "leading region" is assigned to the subjects of the Russian Federation that have shown the greatest growth according to 40 criteria in key blocks: "Enterprise", "Product", "Tourist community", "Educational institutions and development institutes", "Region".
"Omsk Region is a region with a rich industrial history and a technologically advanced innovative present. Government authorities, advanced industrial enterprises, business development institutions, tour operators, individual guides, and business representatives are actively involved in the development of industrial tourism in the Omsk region. Thanks to industrial tourism, we are clearly demonstrating the production capabilities, investment and human resources of the region, as well as developing domestic tourism," said Svetlana Bazhenova, General Director of the Omsk Region Development and Investment Agency.
The "Day of Best Practices" will be held on May 26. Omsk Region will be among the 25 regions selected to present their achievements. Our region will present its best practices on the track "Industrial Tourism. Cooperation, exchange of experience, attraction of business groups and tourist flow to the region."
