Omsk region develops industrial clusters

Today, the third meeting of the working group on increasing the competitiveness of enterprises participating in industrial clusters of the Omsk region took place at the site of the regional Congress Hall. Issues related to the development of a cluster of electrical equipment, electronic and optical products were discussed on the agenda.

The meeting was led by Deputy Chairman of the Omsk Region Government Andrey Shpilenko. The working group includes representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Technical Development of the Omsk Region, the Ministry of Economic Development of the region, the Omsk Region Industry Development Fund, the Regional Development and Investment Agency and other business support and development institutions.

"The formation and development of regional clusters stimulates the increase of labor productivity, the formation of new companies and the creation of new jobs, contributes to the formation of competitive advantages of the Omsk region, contributing to the attraction of investments. Many thanks to the industrial enterprises of the region for starting to actively understand what kind of work we are doing together. One of the main objectives of cluster policy is to eliminate bottlenecks and restrictions that undermine the competitiveness of products within the value chain, as well as to increase the competitive advantages of cluster participants," said Andrey Shpilenko, Deputy Chairman of the Omsk Region.

During the meeting, Svetlana Bazhenova, Director of the Regional Industrial Development Fund, spoke about the methodology of the Specialized Organization of Industrial Clusters (operating on the basis of the Fund), possible government support measures, and also presented roadmaps for industrial cluster participants.

"Today, a meeting of the working group on increasing the competitiveness of the products of the participants of the industrial cluster of electronic and optical products was held. We have been working with each company for a month on what factors are holding back production growth. And today we have reviewed the support measures that can help them develop. The Regional Industrial Development Fund has approved a preferential loan to one of the participants in the industrial cluster. The Omsk Region Investment Development Agency is currently working on the selection of interesting and suitable sites for our business. The Export Support Center offered to participate in a number of exhibitions. Indeed, a lot of work is being done in our region to increase the competitiveness of our products for all our industrial enterprises," said Svetlana Bazhenova, Director of the Omsk Region Industrial Development Fund.

Earlier, the head of the region, Vitaly Khotsenko, noted that the formation of clusters would achieve a noticeable socio-economic effect and contribute to the growth of competitiveness of local enterprises. The Government of the Omsk Region, for its part, will continue to work on measures to support Omsk enterprises within the framework of the regional Industrial Development Fund.
