According to Rosstat, in June 2018, the lowest prices for food products were recorded in the Saratov Region (3338.07 rubles), the highest in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug (10003.7 rubles). Among the federal districts, the Far Eastern region became the leader in the cost of the minimum food package (5,425.86 rubles), and the cheapest set was in the Volga Federal District (3,657.2 rubles). The average price for a set in Russia was 4060.3 rubles.
In the Omsk region, the minimum set of products in June 2018 cost 3456.93 rubles, compared to the same period last year, it fell by 8%. In terms of the cheapness of the minimum set of products, the Omsk Region ranks seventh in Russia as a whole and first in the Siberian Federal District.
The cost of a minimum set of food items reflects the inter-regional differentiation of consumer price levels. When calculating it, the uniform volumes of food consumption established in the whole country and the average consumer prices for them in the subjects of the Russian Federation are used. The minimum set includes bread, meat, fish, milk, vegetables (potatoes, onions, cabbage, carrots) and other products.
"The Omsk Region continues to maintain its status as a region with low prices for basic socially important food products in the Siberian Federal District. As of July 1 of this year, the region occupies a leading position in the price rating of 12 regions of the Siberian Federal District for 20 of the 24 types of basic foodstuffs, and 10 of them are in first place," the Ministry of Economy of the Omsk Region said.
The Omsk Region has the lowest retail prices in the Siberian Federal District for beef, chicken meat, whole pasteurized milk, granulated sugar, rye and rye-wheat flour bread, rice, potatoes, fresh white cabbage, onions and apples. So, the cost of 1 kilogram of beef is lower than the average for the district by 29 rubles, pork – by 26 rubles, butter – by 61 rubles, whole pasteurized milk – by 8 rubles, sour cream – by 27 rubles, potatoes – by 6 rubles, rye bread and rye-wheat flour – by 13 rubles.
