Omsktransmash launches a line of tracked belts

The unique automatic line, which has no analogues in Russia, makes it possible to produce belts of various designs and sizes not only for production, but also for promising samples of civil and special equipment.

The line has been operating in test mode since August last year, and is now fully loaded.

In the presence of Igor Lobov, General Director of Omsktransmash, Igor Zakharov, employees of the plant, Igor Zakharov, head of the Rostec Group of Companies in the Omsk Region, the special representative for Military-Technical Cooperation of Uralvagonzavod Corporation, Alexey Maslov, and Igor Lukyanov, Acting Minister of Industry, Transport and Innovative Technologies of the Omsk Region, solemnly cut the red ribbon and launched the line.

The production process of the crawler belt is fully automated. Operators monitor the accurate and uninterrupted operation of the systems, and robots do all the work for them. On average, each track belt consists of thousands of different parts that are assembled into a single whole. Special cassettes with individual track elements are installed at the beginning of the assembly line, and ready-made track belts are obtained at the output.

It is especially worth noting the last stage of production – testing of products for durability. For these purposes, an automatic, changeable with semi-automatic loading installation for running in track belts is used. This booth is unique. It is two-position, i.e. it has the same mechanisms on the left and right sides for independent running-in of one or two belts, even of different sizes. The tension force of the tracks is monitored remotely using an electronic sensor with automatic recording of the results and the ability to view the process. To date, Omsktransmash produces all major types of tracked belts, providing them to tracked armored vehicles in Russia.

"The launch of the automated assembly line has made it possible to reduce heavy manual labor during assembly, improve the quality of finished products and reduce time costs," said Igor Lobov, General Director of Omsktransmash JSC.

Igor Lukyanov, Acting Minister of Industry, Transport and Innovative Technologies of the Omsk Region, also shared his impression: "This is a landmark event both for the Omsk region and for the country as a whole. This line is unique in all its characteristics and makes it possible to increase the efficiency of tasks within the framework of the execution of the state defense order."

Omsk Plant of Transport Engineering is one of the largest enterprises in the Siberian region with a 120-year history, its own scientific and production base. Omsktransmash carries out the design and manufacture of prototypes and small series of military engineering equipment of various types, repair and modernization of a number of combat vehicles of the Republic of Armenia. The plant is the only manufacturer of tracks for heavy armored vehicles in Russia. Today, the Russian Armed Forces are supplied with 29 samples of military equipment manufactured by the Omsk Transport Engineering Plant. Among them are the T–80U tank, a heavy flamethrower system, a floating conveyor, a special fire truck, and mechanized bridges.
