In mid-April, Omsk will host the first ever International Sustainable Development Forum of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The site will bring together the delegations of the diplomatic departments of the member states of the organization. The forum is organized by the Association of Clusters, Technoparks and SEZs of Russia and the Government of the Omsk region with the support of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
The initiative to hold a significant event in Omsk was supported at the federal level in connection with the announcement of 2025 as the SCO Year of Sustainable Development.
"2025 has been declared the SCO Year of Sustainable Development. Earlier, we proposed to hold a relevant forum in our city, and our proposal was supported," said Vitaly Khotsenko, Governor of the Omsk Region.
The event will be attended by representatives of federal authorities, subjects of the Russian Federation and business structures. The discussion will focus on the issues of "green" development of regions, national projects as tools for achieving sustainable development goals, models of sustainable development of regions and sustainable development in the SCO — from local initiatives to global results.
