The ceremony of swearing allegiance to the Omsk residents of the new mayor of Omsk took place on Friday, December 8 in the Concert Hall. On November 22, 2017, for the first time, the mayor was elected by the city Council on a competitive basis. With this step, the deputies, as representatives of the interests of the citizens, together with the residents of Omsk shared responsibility for choosing the future for the city. The election results demonstrate the willingness of all branches of government in the region to work closely together for the benefit of the people of Omsk and the prosperity of the city. Also, for the first time, a woman became the head of Omsk.
In accordance with the Charter of the city of Omsk, the elected mayor takes office from the moment he is sworn in. Today, Oksana Fadina took the oath of office in the presence of the heads of the region, deputies of the Legislative Assembly and the Omsk City Council, Honorary citizens, representatives of executive authorities at all levels, heads of large industrial enterprises, business structures and public organizations.
The elected mayor vowed to comply with the Constitution of Russia, federal and regional legislation, the City Charter, decisions of the City Council, honestly and conscientiously fulfill her duties, serve the prosperity of the city of Omsk, protect the legitimate rights and interests of its residents. Chairman of the Omsk City Council Vladimir Korbut presented Oksana Fadina with a certificate of election.
Alexander Burkov, Acting Governor of the Omsk Region, congratulated Oksana Fadina on taking office as Mayor. The head of the region believes that the unanimous choice of deputies of the City Council is a recognition of her authority and evidence of trust.
"In your person, Omsk has acquired an enterprising, energetic leader who knows how to think big and strategically. And, hopefully, a reliable real hostess. Omsk residents expect the city to be clean, well-groomed, modern and comfortable. People are waiting for a real improvement in the quality of life. I am sure you will succeed. And I hope that together we will restore the former glory of our wonderful city," said Acting Governor Alexander Burkov.
In response, Omsk Mayor Oksana Fadina thanked the deputies of the Omsk City Council and the head of the Omsk region for the high trust. "I am aware of the full extent of the responsibility that you have assumed and I will do everything to justify this trust. I want to thank Acting Governor Alexander Burkov for his will, support and the opportunity to believe in himself, to gain confidence that our common goals will be achieved," Oksana Fadina said.
Metropolitan Vladimir of Omsk and Tauride greeted the new mayor.Peter Priputen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to the Russian Federation, congratulated the new Mayor of the city. The city of Pukhov of the Slovak Republic has become the first twin city in the modern history of Omsk.
