Russia's first cluster of social innovations to launch in Omsk region

The presentation of the cluster will take place within the framework of the VI International Forum of Social Entrepreneurs and Investors "INNOSIB-2016".

In 2017, a pilot project for the Russian Federation, the INNOSIB cluster of social innovations, an integrated system for the development of the region's non-governmental social sector, will be launched in the Omsk Region.

The structure of the new cluster will include more than 15 different enterprises and organizations whose activities are aimed at transforming the social sphere of the Omsk region. Within the framework of the cluster, experimental sites will be created in Omsk and two municipal districts of the region to provide necessary social services within walking distance for children, youth, people with disabilities in the fields of education and development, sports and culture, and family leisure. This will allow social entrepreneurs and leaders of socially oriented NGOs that will join the cluster to minimize costs and mobilize each other's resources through cooperation with other residents of the cluster.

Omsk Region is the first region of Russia to host a cluster of social innovations. In the future, the experience of the region will be applied in other regions of the federation.

"The Omsk Region is positioned as a federal leader in the development of the social sector of the economy, the region was awarded the national award For the best regional program to support social entrepreneurship. Recognition of our achievements is certainly pleasant, but even more so, it requires us to take a responsible approach to our decisions and their implementation. There are not many ready-made answers in this direction, and it is our region that initiates innovations that are replicated in other regions and become a nationwide practice," said Andrey Novoselov, First Vice Chairman of the regional Government, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Center for Social Innovation.

The structure of the new cluster will be presented at the VI International Forum of Social Entrepreneurs and Investors INNOSIB-2016, which will be held on November 17 in Omsk. The Forum will be attended by more than 1,000 people from various regions of Russia. Among the guests and participants of the forum are representatives of the federal government, large businesses, social entrepreneurs and investors, as well as Russian and international experts in the field of social entrepreneurship and civil society development. The Forum will traditionally feature a presentation of the best social and entrepreneurial projects in the fields of education and culture, healthcare and social assistance to the population, sports and tourism. The event is organized by the Center for Social Innovation with the support of the Government of the Omsk region.

The Omsk Center for Social Innovation is a federal leader in the effectiveness and quality of established social and entrepreneurial projects and start-up businesses. Omsk's experience in teaching the basics of social business is already being used in 19 regions of Russia, and more than 70% of business projects have been successfully implemented.
