Foreign trade operations are carried out by more than 600 Omsk organizations.
Among Omsk exporters, the number of small and medium-sized businesses is increasing, which are finding partners abroad with the support of the Export Center, established on the basis of the Omsk Region Development and Investment Agency. The Center started with single contracts, but every year their number increased significantly (2014 – 4 contracts, 2015 – 15 contracts, 2016 – 44 contracts, 75 contracts are expected in 2017). Last year, small and medium-sized organizations in the region sold their products abroad in the amount of 8.7 million dollars. In terms of the effectiveness of state support for foreign economic activity and the effectiveness of the Export Center, the Omsk region ranked 4th in the country.
According to the Governor of the Omsk regionViktor Nazarov, "further expansion of freedom for business is the best response to all external challenges and restrictions." Last summer, the head of the region opened a trading house of Omsk commodity producers in the duty-free zone in Manchuria, where 19 Omsk small companies were represented in two months of operation. The opening of similar trading houses for Chinese and Kazakh products in Omsk is currently being discussed.
In accordance with the Agreement signed by Governor Viktor Nazarov at the Sochi Investment Forum, the Russian Export Center operates an educational program in the region to train managers of small and medium-sized enterprises to conduct export activities and promote their products abroad.
The Export Support Center not only trains entrepreneurs interested in entering foreign markets, but also organizes business missions for them, helps them prepare for international exhibitions and conferences.
The systematic approach is reflected in the regional priority project "Systemic measures for the development of international cooperation and exports of the Omsk region until 2025", approved in 2017. According to the developers from the regional Ministry of Economy, the implementation of the developed measures will increase the effectiveness of state support for foreign economic activity.
"During the project implementation period, we expect to hold at least 90 exhibition, fair and congress events, maintain a positive foreign trade balance of at least $ 15 million, and conclude at least 750 export contracts with government support," Economy Minister Oksana Fadina said.
