On August 29, the TASS press center hosted a press conference dedicated to the Fourth Forum of Heads of Regions of the SCO member states. The forum will be held from September 17 to 19, 2024 in Omsk.
Dmitry Volvach, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia, Vitaly Khotsenko, Governor of the Omsk Region, Andrey Shpilenko, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Omsk Region, and Vittoria Idrisova, Rector of the All-Russian Academy of Foreign Trade, spoke about the key topics of the forum, its main events, expected results, and prospects for cooperation between the region and the SCO countries.
To strengthen business cooperation in the field of investment, industrial cooperation, trade, and jointly overcoming challenges in the current geopolitical conditions, a Business Forum with the participation of Russian and foreign entrepreneurs will be held as part of the main event. Participants will have a plenary session on the topic "Industrial cooperation of the SCO regions: challenges and opportunities", as well as B2B meetings for business representatives. At the moment, business representatives from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, as well as the Moscow, Chelyabinsk, Kemerovo, Sverdlovsk, Tomsk regions, the Kamchatka Territory and the Republic of Tatarstan have confirmed their participation.
At the Forum, participants will be presented a model of sustainable development of the Avangard special economic zone (SEZ), as well as achievements in the field of breeding and genetics that are relevant to the SCO countries.
The Forum will discuss the development of cooperation chains, hold round tables on industrial development, sustainable development goals, education and cultural relations.
Participants of the Forum of Heads of Regions of the SCO member states will plant an alley in the Omsk City Garden, which leads to the patrons of the family - Peter and Fevronia. It should be noted that the landscaping of the garden is carried out under the federal project "Creating a comfortable urban environment" of the national project "Housing and Urban environment".
The SCO People's Diplomacy Center will be established in Omsk. The Agreement is scheduled to be signed on the sidelines of the Forum, and the initiative to create such a center has been coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
