Industrial cluster policy continues to develop in the Omsk region
The first meeting of the working group on improving the competitiveness of enterprises participating in the industrial cluster of wood processing, furniture and wood products in the Omsk region took place today. Currently, the cluster includes 8 Omsk industrial enterprises. In December 2023, the cluster was included in the register of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.
The meeting was chaired by Andrey Shpilenko, Deputy Chairman of the Omsk Region Government. The working group includes executive authorities, business development and support institutions, such as the Omsk Region Industrial Development Fund, the Regional Development and Investment Agency, the Omsk Scientific and Educational Center, the Export Support Center, and others.
"The development of the industrial cluster of wood processing, furniture and wood products in the Omsk region contributes to increasing the competitiveness of enterprises through the development of cooperation, investment attractiveness of the region, localization and modernization of production facilities, as well as cost reduction. The products produced by the cluster members can also increase the export potential of the Omsk Region," said Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Shpilenko.
The participants are enterprises of the industrial cluster operating in the fields of logging, woodworking, furniture production, and wood products. In joint cooperation, the enterprises plan to produce wooden furniture for dining rooms and living rooms, cottages and gardens, as well as stairs.
During the meeting, the Director of the Omsk Region Industry Development Fund (hereinafter referred to as the FRF) Svetlana Bazhenova presented the industrial cluster and the progress of the implementation of the "road maps" of the enterprises participating in the cluster.
"During working trips and acquaintance with enterprises, the problems and needs of Omsk business were identified. Most cluster members need to expand production and purchase additional equipment to increase their product line. Participation in the cluster will allow enterprises to increase the efficiency of their investments in production and provide an opportunity to attract additional financing to the business," said Svetlana Bazhenova, Director of the Omsk Region FRP.
