A cluster for the processing of ash and slag materials is being created in the Omsk region

The Association for the Promotion of Industrial Cluster Development includes enterprises of the construction industry and leading Omsk universities.

On the eve of the regional Ministry of Construction, a constituent meeting of the Association for the Promotion of the Industrial Cluster for the Use and Processing of ash and slag materials was held. The initiator of the new formation was the Osnova Holding company with its subsidiaries. The association also includes a number of Omsk companies for the production of building materials, as well as leading Omsk universities.

The sectoral ministries of the Omsk Region - the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Construction, and the Ministry of Natural Resources - support the creation of an "ash and slag cluster" that will effectively use the resources of the heat and power complex for recycling, reduce the area of the Omsk CHP ash dumps, and produce efficient and inexpensive building materials for road rehabilitation and capital construction.

Sergey Koshelev, Head of the Construction Department of the Regional Ministry of Construction, said that projects for the efficient use of ash and slag, which are no longer commonly referred to as waste, namely materials, were being implemented in the Omsk region more than ten years ago.

"We have successfully operated a Porous materials plant, the Teply Brick and Omsk Cement plants, and others. Ash and slag materials are used in the road sector, for example, during the construction of the Western Bypass section. Ash and slag have good technical characteristics, do not suffer from temperature fluctuations and allow saving at the expense of cost," said Sergey Koshelev.

By joining the Association, representatives of the construction industry and science enterprises will be able to quickly and efficiently prepare a package of documents for registering an industrial cluster and entering it into the register of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, as well as attracting federal funds for the implementation of joint projects.

The initiators of the cluster's creation declare the demand and prospects for the use of ash and slag materials beyond the Urals, where many thermal power plants run on coal. The reserves of ash and slag in Siberia and the Far East are large. In the Omsk region alone, the volume of ash dumps totals about 70 million tons and is replenished annually by 1.5 million tons. These resources can be effectively used within the framework of large-scale projects implemented jointly by the participants of the new cluster.
