In three northern districts of the Omsk region, they plan to invest in the production of flax

Today, following the meeting, we willёAppointed by Andrey Shpilenko, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Omsk region, it was decided to organize a meeting with the heads of districts and entrepreneurs to discuss the possibility of increasing the cultivation of flax and the implementation of an investment project for the deep processing of flax raw materials. The focus is on the northern regions of the region – Znamensky, Muromtsevsky, Bolsheukovsky.

Note that flax is a long-lived – one of the promising cultures (undeservedly forgotten!), since it is a raw material for the production of natural fiber, which is almost 3 twice as strong as wool and in 2 twice as strong as cotton. In addition to the textile industry, flax fiber plays an important role in the medical industry, where it is used to produce surgical threads, dressings and medical cotton wool, as well as building materials and insulation materials from flax.

The General Director of the Omsk Region Development and Investment Agency took part in the workshop. Evgeny Kovtun, Head of the Project Planning and Support Department Dmitry Kalachin and the head of the Department of Crop Production of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Omsk region Daniel Beloshitsky.

During the workshop, we analyzed the experience of some regions of the Siberian Federal District in the cultivation, primary and deep processing of flax, and developed 4 investment scenarios for the possible implementation of the flax deep processing project, which will later be discussed with the heads of the northern municipal districts and representatives of the agricultural business.
