Vitaly Khotsenko announced the opening of the Center for People's Diplomacy of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Omsk.
The Governor of the Omsk Region spoke about the IV Forum of Heads of Regions from the SCO member states, which will be held in Omsk from September 17 to 19, 2024.
Today, the head of the Omsk Region, Vitaly Khotsenko, and Dmitry Volvach, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia, gave TASS a joint press conference on the upcoming event. The event was also attended by Deputy Chairman of the regional Government Andrey Shpilenko and Rector of the All-Russian Academy of Foreign Trade Vittoria Idrisova.
It was noted that the Forum's program is aimed at deepening cooperation and developing joint solutions. The first day will be opened by a Business forum with the participation of Russian and foreign entrepreneurs. The plenary session on "Industrial Cooperation between the SCO regions: Challenges and Opportunities" will provide a unique opportunity to discuss topical issues facing business, share experiences and establish new business ties. B2B meetings will create conditions for direct dialogue. The second, main day of the Forum, is full of thematic panel sessions that will identify common interests and outline ways to implement joint projects in the field of logistics, agro-industrial complex, industrial cooperation, education and youth cooperation.
The program of the Forum also provides for the signing of bilateral documents aimed at developing cooperation between the regions of the SCO countries. They will consolidate the agreements reached and open up new opportunities for the implementation of joint projects.
The head of the region, Vitaly Khotsenko, announced plans to open the SCO People's Diplomacy Center in Omsk.
"As part of the Forum, we are announcing the opening of the SCO People's Diplomacy Center in Omsk. A corresponding agreement will be signed on the sidelines of the Forum. The initiative to open such centers was supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. We will create such a Center," Vitaly Khotsenko emphasized.
The Governor noted another initiative that is planned to be presented at the IV Forum of Heads of Regions of the SCO countries, the Friendship Without Borders project. Students of the Omsk region and the Republic of Kazakhstan, studying at universities in the Russian capital, decided to unite to participate in joint projects, cultural and educational events, and exchange experiences.
"We really like this project, we want to offer to replicate it. Taking into account the fact that we have many Omsk students and young people from the border regions of Kazakhstan studying in Moscow, we proposed to become such a center of friendship and youth communication on the basis of our regional representative office in the capital. Because it all starts with friendly relations, the creation of new initiatives, which can then be implemented together," says Vitaliy Khotsenko.
Other SCO countries could participate in this project. This would open up new prospects for cooperation, create a unique platform for youth interaction, partnership, mutual understanding and friendship without borders.
