Vitaly Khotsenko: The Northern bypass of Omsk will be created ahead of the main section of the federal expressway

The Governor of the Omsk region presented his message to the people's deputies in the regional parliament, which reflects plans for the development of transport and logistics infrastructure, as well as the status of new projects.

At the federal level, the construction of Omsk-Fedorovka airport was supported and a concession agreement was concluded with the Airports of the regions, the residents of the region chose the architectural appearance of the new air harbor of the region. The federal budget provides 12.3 billion rubles for the implementation of the project.

The Government of the Russian Federation has also supported the construction of the Northern Bypass of the city of Omsk with funding of about 16 billion rubles. The region is working to attract an additional 11 billion rubles, as well as preferential financing of extra-budgetary investments.

"There are two potentially attractive destinations for our region. The first is the construction of the Moscow–Vladivostok highway announced by our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. The transport corridor is developing in stages: last December, a modern highway was opened between Moscow and Kazan. At the end of this year, it should reach Yekaterinburg, and then Tyumen. The highway will have a section that will be created with the participation of the region ahead of the main project – we are talking about a significant Northern Bypass of the city of Omsk. We thank Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Shakirzyanovich Khusnullin for this decision," said Governor Vitaly Khotsenko.

The second direction of the region's development, highlighted in the message by the Governor of the Omsk Region, is the use of the Irtysh River for full–fledged trade and economic cooperation between Russia, Kazakhstan and China. The formation of a multimodal transit transport corridor is important for developing the country's transit potential and strengthening its position in logistics. Vitaly Khotsenko reported on this topic yesterday at the Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan in Ufa. Substantive negotiations on the joint use of the Irtysh River with Kazakhstan and China are planned in the near future.

"I am confident that with a constructive joint approach, the Irtysh River can become a major international trade artery, increase transit potential and expand export-import operations between the three countries. We understand that this is an international project that will take decades to complete. And in order to take advantage of the Irtysh River, we need to start today," Vitaliy Khotsenko said in his message. Its purpose will be to reduce the time and length of cargo delivery routes using the cross-border Irtysh River.
