Vitaly Khotsenko headed the organizing committee for the IV Forum of Heads of Regions of the SCO member States in Omsk.
The forum of regional representatives from the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be held from September 17 to 19, 2024.
By his order on August 2, the Governor of the Omsk Region approved the composition of the organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the IV Forum of Heads of Regions of the SCO member states.
The head of the region, Vitaly Khotsenko, initiated an important international event in Omsk. The development of multilateral cooperation with the regions of the SCO member states is of strategic importance for the Omsk Region. More than half of the total volume of the region's foreign trade is accounted for by these countries, and the volume of mutual trade with these countries continues to grow.
In the Omsk Region, more than 60% of enterprises with foreign capital are located in the SCO countries. Branches, representative offices and dealerships of Omsk enterprises for the sale of agricultural machinery and equipment operate in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. A pilot project for the technical re-equipment of the energy center is being implemented in Bukhara with the involvement of funds from the World Bank Group and state co-financing from the Government of Uzbekistan.
Cooperation in the field of culture and education is developing. A project office for international youth cooperation "Russia – Central Asian Region" has been established in the Omsk Region, whose task is to support the interaction of Russian youth organizations with partners from Central Asian countries. A Forum of young Leaders "Russia – Central Asian Region" is being held in Omsk as part of the Project Office's activities with the participation of representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and the regions of Russia.
At the next Forum of Heads of Regions of the SCO member states in Omsk, it is planned to discuss issues of developing cooperation in the field of logistics, the agro-industrial complex, industrial cooperation, education and science, including with the participation of young people, and to hold an exchange of contacts between representatives of the business community.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an international association that provides a platform for dialogue and cooperation between the participating countries in key areas in the political, trade, economic, scientific, technical, and cultural fields. It was founded in June 2001 by the leaders of Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Today, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization consists of ten states — Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Belarus. In addition, Afghanistan and Mongolia have the status of observer states at the SCO. Also, 14 Asian and African countries have the status of "SCO dialogue partner" — Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bahrain, Egypt, Cambodia, Qatar, Kuwait, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Sri Lanka.
