From August 23 to 26, the CIS Wealth of Eurasia exhibition and Fair was held for the first time, where residents and guests of Omsk could get acquainted with the culture and traditions of different countries, purchase unique products and have fun with the whole family.
The fair is organized by the Government of the Omsk Region, the Agency for Development and Investment of the Omsk Region and national public associations of the region.
The event brought together entrepreneurs, artisans, athletes, cultural representatives and business partners from 8 CIS countries on one platform. The Republics of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation took part in the fair.
So, residents of Omsk took part in free master classes on playing the dombra and weaving the Kazakh national kamchi whip, played Armenian backgammon, wove Belarusian dolls out of cornrows, and became spectators of real sports competitions - Kyuresh wrestling, where the strongest received a live lamb as a gift.
On the "Country Day", the participants prepared a rich cultural program for the audience. Folklore groups, dance ensembles and solo performers representing the CIS countries performed on the stage. For example, residents of Omsk heard wonderful singing in Armenian, Uzbek, Kazakh and Azerbaijani languages, saw national dances, and also heard national musical instruments playing – drums, duduk and komuz.
It should be noted that the official opening of the CIS fair "Wealth of Eurasia" was attended by the Minister of Economy of the Omsk region Rasim Galyamov, State Duma Deputy Oleg Smolin and President of the Union of Trade Organizations of the Omsk Region Boris Svatkov.
On the day of the Republics of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ilgar Iskenderov, Consul General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Yekaterinburg, paid an official visit. The Consul congratulated residents of Omsk and guests of the city on the opening and holding of the CIS "Wealth of Eurasia" exhibition and fair, wished the region prosperity and development, and also noted that today the leadership of the Republic of Azerbaijan pays special attention to regional cooperation and regional cooperation, therefore, prospects and details of expanding cooperation will be additionally discussed with the Omsk region.
Visitors to the CIS Wealth of Eurasia exhibition and Fair took part in tastings, and after that they could purchase a variety of goods and products from the CIS countries.
"Confectionery and meat products, as well as real Belarusian kvass based on birch sap, were presented in a wide range at the Belarusian stand. The Republic of Armenia surprised residents of Omsk with delicious dairy products, cheese delicacies and jam made from walnuts and dogwood. Entrepreneurs from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan treated the guests of the exhibition with ripe melons and watermelons, as well as other fresh fruits brought especially for the fair from the warm countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The Republic of Azerbaijan has conquered the hearts of Omsk residents with baklava and a traditional oriental sweet delicacy – shakyar bura. Kazakhs presented a variety of products under the brand of the Kazmarket chain of stores, and throughout the days of the fair, the Omsk region surprised visitors with ivan tea made from medicinal plants harvested according to all the rules in ecologically clean regions of Siberia," said Evgeny Kovtun, General Director of the Omsk Region Development and Investment Agency.
The Wealth of Eurasia exhibition and Fair has become the main platform for promoting the products of commodity producers of the CIS countries, developing trade and economic cooperation between the Omsk region and the CIS countries, as well as establishing business contacts and familiarizing the population with the culture, traditions, customs and tourist attractiveness of the CIS regions.
